Who Wears Short Shorts?

From bell-bottoms to stirrup pants, fashion has seen so many fads & trends come and go like the wind. Trendy pieces, hemlines & silhouettes keep fashion exciting and keeps us on our toes, yet can sometimes come back to haunt us the following year when we open our closet doors and everything is “SO last season.”

Luckily, The Tailor Maid is here to save you from fashion’s looks gone by. We’ll taper those wide leg jeans, reduce your lapels, and update those hemlines. A great style (and money!) saver this spring is re-styling your shorts! Take an old pair of too-long Bermudas and hem them to a great, ready-for-warm-weather length! Take a look at this dowdy pair and their new updated look!

Before...

...After!

Simple alterations can save your wardrobe, one garment at a time! Take a look and see what pieces could use some makeover attention, and bring them on over!
We’ll see you soon!

Head Down the Aisle in Style!

Here Comes the Bride…

…AND the groom, AND the bridesmaids, AND the entire wedding party!

Which is better, Christmas or Wedding Season?!  We at The Tailor Maid would probably pick wedding season, hands down! We blame it on the beautiful gowns, the punchy colored (and never boring!) bridesmaids dresses, and the crisp, dark tuxedos.

A wedding gown–be it white, ivory, covered in lace, ruffles, tulle, pleating, or all of the above–what can we say?!– Our tailors love them all, as long as they fit perfectly!

Our client, Katie Anderson, tied the knot last summer!

Not only is our staff skilled in complex garment construction and alterations, but we have a fast turn around time too– The Tailor Maid can complete most alterations within a week! We also boast extra large dressing rooms, special appointments upon request, and our store is open 7 days a week,  with Mon-Fri open until 8 PM! (Our full store hours can be found here.)

The Fogelsong/Anderson wedding party went down the aisle with style!

Please inquire about special and specific wedding rates, and any fitting questions you might have!

We can’t wait to make your bridal party look their best!

Spring into Spring!

After a drizzly winter, bright colors are just the ticket to spruce up your mood, AND your home! Here at The Tailor Maid, we specialize in custom home accessories.  We can work with you to custom create pillows, drapes, slip covers, napkins, table runners, and so much more–all in whatever patterns or colors you can find.

Did you know that giving your living space a “face lift” might be more affordable than you think?

Here are some great tips for redecorating this Spring!

1. Pick good colors

Create depth and eye catching interest with different shades and hues of your current favorite colors. Or, you can always revert to the color wheel and select colors that truly compliment each other. It’s also great and easy to pull minor accent colors from larger pieces or furniture with pillows and and accessories; doing so will also give the room a new look for less!

2. Recover!

Acquiring new pillows doesn’t have put you on a pillow form shopping spree! We can re-cover your old pillows with new fabrics and trims! Adding a zipper will allow an easy color change for the next season.

3. Let in the light!

Switch out heavy drapes and drab colors for lighter window treatments. Nothing can make a room feel fresher than open windows and flowing window treatments in sheer fabrics or sunny colors.

4. It’s all in the details

Don’t neglect your tables! Pull your decor’s look together with coordinating napkins, table runners, and linens. Often times, the kitchen or dining room can be easily pushed aside when it comes to soft furnishings. (Poor rooms!) Give them some attention too with coordinating treatments!

5. Flower picking

Spring and flowers go hand-in-hand for a reason, and often represent new growth and a fresh start. If you can’t keep up with fresh flowers in your home, floral printed fabrics can be your best friend! After all, you don’t have to water your couch.

The Tailor Maid can help you with your new fresh start this spring. Drop by one of our two locations and consult with our creative staff to get your custom home furnishings started!

Happy Spring!
